Computer Colleges in Nairobi with Evening and Weekend Classes: A Guide for People Who Work

Most people searching for computer colleges in Nairobi aren’t teenagers with free afternoons. They’re accountants who’ve been faking Excel, receptionists who were just handed the company’s booking system, and job seekers who keep seeing “computer literate” on adverts. They work, or they’re hunting for work, and the only time they have is before 9 am, after 5 pm, or on Saturday.

At Excel Global College we’ve built our ICT timetable around that. Here’s what you can study outside office hours, how long it takes, and how to keep going when the week gets heavy.

evening computer classes at a computer college in Nairobi

The four daily slots, and who each one suits

Slot Time Usually suits
Early morning 7:00 to 9:00 am People who start work at 9:30 or 10
Late morning 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Job seekers, school leavers, shift workers on an off day
Afternoon 2:00 to 5:00 pm Shift workers and anyone between jobs
Evening 5:30 to 8:00 pm Standard 8-to-5 office workers
Weekend Weekend classes Anyone who can’t manage weekdays

Slots as listed on our computer packages page, October 2026.

The evening slot runs two and a half hours, so you get real lab time rather than a rushed hour. Don’t overlook the 7 am slot either. A morning class is hard for anyone to schedule a meeting over.

What you can finish outside office hours

Course Duration Fee
BCS (Basic Computer Skills) 4 weeks KSh 18,000
ACS (Advanced Computer Skills) 8 weeks KSh 27,000
ICDL Base 6 weeks KSh 22,500
ICDL Standard 10 weeks KSh 32,500
ICDL Advanced (per module) 3 weeks KSh 9,000
MOS Associate (per app) 3 weeks KSh 10,000
IELTS preparation 20 sessions KSh 29,000

From our computer packages, ICDL, MOS and IELTS pages.

If you’re short on time, the modular options are your friend. An ICDL Advanced module (say, Financial Spreadsheets) or a single MOS app takes three weeks. You can do one, rest, and come back for the next.

If you can’t come in at all

Some weeks you won’t make it to Parklands, and some people can’t come in at all. For computer packages, you can choose online classes instead of classroom training. ICDL runs both online and in person. MOS has a distance-learning option too.

Honest advice: if you’re a beginner, try to come in, at least at the start. Online works well once you know your way around a computer. It’s much harder when you’re still learning where the files went. We wrote more about this trade-off in Online vs In-Person: Which Computer Course Fits You Best?

How to keep going when work gets busy

Nobody quits a course on purpose. They miss one class because of a late meeting, then another, then it’s easier not to come back. A few things help:

  • Pick the slot you can protect, not the one that looks ideal. If evenings are unpredictable, the 7 am slot might be safer.
  • Tell your manager. It’s easier to leave on time on class days when they know you’re studying something useful to the job.
  • Practise on work tasks. Rebuild a report you already produce, but using what you learned this week. You’ll learn faster, and your boss sees the difference.
  • Use the small class. We keep class sizes small, so if you missed a session, ask the trainer to walk you through it. That’s what they’re there for.

Does your employer pay?

It’s worth asking. We run corporate training, including IT and software training, data analysis and cybersecurity courses, so some employers send whole teams. If yours won’t pay for a group, they may still cover an individual fee or allow you to leave early on class days. Our upcoming guide to ICDL training for teams covers the employer side.

If you’re paying yourself, fees can go through M-Pesa, bank transfer or cash, and instalment plans are available.

Why working adults choose Excel Global College

We’ve been training in Nairobi for over 10 years, and our campus sits opposite CITAM Church on Second Parklands Avenue. We are an authorised ICDL test centre, a Certiport exam centre for Microsoft certifications, and a Microsoft IT Academy. Our Google rating is based on 189 reviews, and you can read them before you visit.

One learner’s Google review says the lecturer didn’t rush to finish a unit on time, but made sure he understood how to apply the tools. That’s what you want when you’re studying after a full day of work.
